Top 5 Worst Stadiums

by user The Beast

1. Tropicana Field It barely edges out the Metrodome for numero uno. What good can be said about a dome? Not much usually. When you enter the park, it feels more like you are entering a shopping mall. There are many games and amusements for the kids and numerous concession stands all with neon lighted signs. There is no way you'd know you were at a baseball park until you take your seat. The Devil Rays alwasy stink, and nobody ever comes. You are in a loser's environment in a horrible park.

2. HHH Metrodome good can be said about a dome? Not much usually. The dome is a pile of dog crap. everything in it is either plastic or concrete. nearly all of the seats dont face home plate. and in the upper deck their are at least a dozen or so seats in each section that are obstructed by a giant concrete piling. The Metrodome was not built for baseball, and the Twins never should have moved here in the early 1980's. Most of the seats are far away from the field, and many actually face away from the infield. The only reason it is a little better than tropicana is becasue the Twins often field a good team, and the fans come out to support them. A World Series was won here, whcih can't be said about my favorite park, Wrigley Field. IT EVEN HAS A SWASTIKA ON THE ROOF!!

3. Rogers Centre Domes stink! You get the pattern. It is formed better than the Met and has some history which makes it the third worst.

4. Dolphins Stadium Baseball should be played in baseball stadiums. While this place is a great football stadium, I can't say the same for baseball. They have tried hard to make it a baeball stadium, but you really just can't.

5. RFK Stadium RFK isn't too bad, they actually did a pretty good job with it, but the outfield is terrible and its a multipurpose stadium.

RFK is a terrible stadium for baseball. The field has improved, but it makes for a bad gameday experience. The concession stands dont work, and are often run via the power of extension cords. Its a great stadium but not made for baseball.

In response to Aswaff. I live in Waukesha, which is just west of Milwaukee. Miller Park is a baeatiful ballpark and a great place to watch a ballgame. In response to what people are saying about the leaky roof-The roof design is panels that slide over one another. A common misconception is that the roof was designed to be air tight. That's not true. Nobody ever said that there wouldn't be some water dripping through. As far as the s;ide in left field, I hate it too. At County Stadium they had a big mug of beer that Bernie Brewer would slide into. It was really cool. But now everything has to be Politically Correct and beer was innapropriate. Which is bullshit because beer is a big part of the history of Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin, and the organization itself. In closing, Miller Park is a great place to watch a ballgame.

The BOB in Arizona and Miller Park in Milwaukee (Houston to a lesser extent) are the only domes that got it right: allow for retractable walls in center field so it doesn't feel like a dome.

Chase Field (formerly the BoB) even with it's pool in right field (whoopdedamndoo) still is a bit too sterile... it's nice enough stadium, but it really doesn't feel like a baseball park. The also don't utilize the roof AT ALL, it's closed for almost EVERY game

Milwuakee didn't get their dome right. It leaks all the time. They have a retractable roof stadium that gets rained out. I was actually going to nominate Miller for worst park. The roof leaks, and it's just ugly. Like that stupid slide in left field. What's that? I think Miller is much worse than RFK.

No. There are a lot of ballparks I haven't been to. I'm just going by what I know from watching games. Why, is Miller more impressive in person than on t.v.? Because it looks pretty freakin ugly on t.v. Plus, again, the rainouts.

Miller Park is state-of-the-art, the roof prevents rainouts, the sightlines are great, the food is awesome, and the scoreboard is huge. Speaking of those leaks, the roof was meant to keep out cold weather in April and October. It's a design flaw in fan-shaped roofs. But those leaks are worse than they thought it would be. Still, it's not as bad as it used to be, and it's not as bad as people think.

I think the Rogers Centre is a pretty good place to watch the Jays - when you play in a place that has snow at the beginning of the year, gets really hot for June-Aug and gets cold fast in late september-october, having a dome is really the only way to go. Plus, it's a lot better then the Ex, too. Also, even though it's not used anymore, the Astrodome is the worst baseball stadium of all time. Shea is a pretty close second, too.

SkyDome does not belong in the bottom 5...it was WELL ahead of it's time and behind it's time at the same time... "Top worst" doesn't really go together that well...try "Bottom 5 Worst" - thanks for the piece! +

I know baseball got dropped from the Olympics, but I can't remember if it is for 2012... either way, if it is held at an Olympic Ballpark in London 2012, it will be the worst attended baseball stadium ever! I can't imagine 1,000 going to watch, especially as their are other sporting events that may be going on at the same time (Cricket, e.g. is a game much more known, that people would rather watch).

RCA Dome in Indy is pretty lame too. When games are over, you have about an hour stand-still in narrow hallways to get down the narrow stairwells. How it passes firecodes is beyond me. It also has that empty warehouse feel to it. You don't even get the nice neon signs at the concession stands. Just some jerk who takes your $7 for your beer and says' "Next". Fortunatley, for the residents of Indiana, they're replacing it soon.

I agree that baseball should be played in baseball parks. When games are on football fields, it's terrible.

Rogers Centre is actually a ballpark with an attractable roof. It was made for the Blue Jays, eventhough it houses football, it really isn't a good place to watch a football game. It's the only park on this list that makes football the second priority.

Would you want to watch a football game there lol?

Having been to the Trop, I definitely agree with the "shopping mall" take on it. The stadium doesn't even stand out from the surrounding buildings.

RFK is by far the worst ballpark I've ever been 2. The sight lines are terrible, the outfield is atrocious, the amenties/concessions are awful... Shea stadium is 2nd.

Turner field might not seem as a AMAZING stadium, but it is pretty darn good. It never seems crowded in the halls and your close to the action with great weather and a great atmosphere and a great team. It dosn't get much better that turner. GO some day!

I want to go see the White Sox play at the Rogers Centre next year. It doesn't look THAT bad, actually. Miller Park and PNC are the best I've been to, and the 2 worst are probably the Metrodome and Tropicana. The Trop wasn't all that bad either, but it was the only one that I could have put 2nd worst.

You kids need a brush up on your grammar. If you're going to be ignorant, atleast attempt to appear intelligent. Now that I got that out of the way, the HHH Metrodome should be number one on that list, followed by Dolphin Stadium. Also, I'm not so sure you can include Tropicana since a Minor League team plays there.
