I saw a video on youtube about the top 10 plays in the game of baseball, and I thought I would share mine with you.
10. Infield base hit (including bunt base hit): I know that it happens more often then some plays, but an infield base hit takes hustle and speed to get to first base in time, and in later innings in close games, they get even more exciting.
9. Triple: Baseball fans love to see the runners round the bases and hustle around to get into a better scoring position. It is also rare to see, and they are usually tougher to get than home runs, unless you're Speedy Gonzalez. It is also almost always a close play which excites many people
8. Pickoff: It is amazing to watch a pitcher's/catcher's quick movements to get a guy out on base. Andy Pettite, Mark Buehrle, and David Wells are really good at this, and it gets pretty exciting to watch what they do.
7. Grand Slam: With runners on base, it takes clutch hitting to hit the ball out of the park. Plus, home runs are always exciting to watch for the fans.
6. Suicide squeeze: It takes a huge risk for someone to lay down a bunt while someone is running from third to home. It's a lot of pressure, and the player must get the bunt down, otherwise, it's another out and no more baserunner on third. That's why when it's done right, it excites a lot of fans.
5. Inside the park homerun: It takes hustle, desire, and luck to get an inside the park homerun. Like the triple it usually leaves people on the edges of their seats to see whether he'll be out or safe at home, not to mention that it also adds another run for the team.
4. Triple Play: It is rare to see, and usually gets many fans on their feet with the quick instincts and/or luck that the team has.
3. Home run rob: Even if it is by a visiting team's player, it is still amazing to see such a great play to rob someone of not only a great hit, but to rob someone of at least one RBI as well. Look at Gary Matthew Jr.'s play last year. That even left the Astos in awe.
2. Stealing home: Not only does it give a team another run to add to the scoreboard, but it is the rarest accomplishment in baseball in many fans' perspectives.
..AND NUMBER 1... (drumroll)
None other than the walkoff home run. When a batter hits a home run in the bottom of the ninth or in extra innings, it sends the home crowd happy, and is the best way to end a game if you're the home team.
Well, that's my top 10. What are yours?
