Top 10 List of Toughest NBA Arenas

by user The Beast

10. Toyota Center

The Rockets' brand new arena is moving up on the list.

9. Delta Center

Not a luxury stadium (e.g. Staples Center), this one is just loud.

8. United Center

One of the toughest during the Jordan era, but it has slacked off. However, Big ben and his Baby Bulls could build it up again.

7. Conseco Fieldhouse

During the 2000 Finals this place was electric.

6. Madison Square Garden

Traditionally a loud and packed stadium, but its hard to image anyone cheering for these Knicks.

5. American Airlines Center

This new Texas arenas are really loud, especially when my Lakers visit.

4. American Airlines Arena

The white wearing cloud was electric during the finals, as the Heat won three there.

3. AT&T Center

It gets the nod, over the American Airlines, as the Spurs captured 2 titles hear in front of their crazy fans.

2. The Palace of Auburn Hills

These fans are passionate, loyal, and a bit crazy. Just ask Ron Artest.

1. Arco Arena

It doesn't get tougher than Arco Arena, especially with the Cow Bells

The Q has been known for using their sound system at illegal decibles, that should count for something.

Just out of curiousity, have you been to all of the areans to have some kind of basis for these lists or is it just pure guesswork?

I'd assume that the TD Banknorth Garden should be up here too - The Celtics are supposed to have good fans and the amount of banners hanging from the rafters has to have some kind of effect on the other team.

No, I haven't been to all. However, by listening to player surveys and other opinions. You can get some sort of idea. Game shots and watching the crowd can also help. It not hard to figure out the Rose Garden stinks. they don't sell out. Selling out helps too. Tradition is key too.

+ can't argue with your ten much... there's other adjectives than 'electric' - boogie woogie woogie

Do a list just like this but based on arenas 20-30 years ago... Boston Garden, The Spectrum, Great Western Forum, the Suns in the Madhouse on McDowell, yes, even the Rose Garden. These places had some O!F.

It's cyclical.

There was a time when Kansas City Kings fans sucked compared to Blazers fans!

The Staples Center should be on here for the same reason as the other ones: it has hosted many championship series.

THis isn't the list of "the most storied" or "most famous" arenas. It's the toughest to play in.

No, Staples should definately not be on here. The Laker, Hollywood celeb crowd is not very loud. There are too many Paris Hiltons, Cameron Diazes, and Justin Timberlakes at the game. However, the Clipper Nation, might feel they belong. We'll see. Also the Lakers have too many luxury seats, for the rich LA fans who hardly make noise. Remember, we LA fans always show up late and leave early.

MSG is the easiest arena in the NBA to play in... How could you argue that with all the success visiting teams had?

However, MSG has gotta be up there because of tradition. The list isn't for the past year, but over the past 20 years.

Staples center belongs there. if for no other reason than every season 82 games are played. the combined lakers and clippers fans surely equal the noise made by the knicks fans last season. hell, in MSG last year, the knicks fans were chanting "kobe". if you rooting for an opposing player, instead off your team doesn't get you kicked off the lsit, i don't know what will
