Tony Taylor (Antonio Nemesio (Sanchez) Taylor) was born on December 19, 1935 in Central Alava, Cuba. He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1958 for the Chicago Cubs. In 1958, his rookie year, he hit .235 with 6 home runs and 27 RBI. Taylor played for the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 19 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Tony Taylor's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1959, when he hit for a .280 average. However, others believe that it was 1963, when he hit for a .281 average.
