Tony Parker is no MVP

by user Stumptown

All this TP for finals MVP talk needs to stop right now.  Duncan carries that team.  He is the reason Bowen can overplay on the perimeter.  He is the go to guy on every big offensive possession.  He is the reason Brent Barry and Michael Finley are still productive players.  He is that team.  Parker's a nice player having a great series, but TD is the man.  It's his trophy.  Let's all agree to stop this silliness now.

Parker may or not be the playoff MVP, but he is marrying a smoking hot chick.

Well I can't argue with Parker's choice of women. And he deserves lots of credit for seeing to it that we all get to see her every Spurs game, but since who's scoring on the court still weighs heavier for me than who is scoring off, I'm sticking with Duncan.

Tony will always be an MVP in my book. Just because he brings Eva to every game

I love that the first four comments on this page had nothing to do with Parker's basketball skills, just his marriage to Eva Longoria. It's good to be male.

Well said Tylersalt. Even after tonight's game, I'm still sticking with my story that TD is the MVP. Besides with Jessica Alba at the game, who even cares about Eva?

I completely agree stumptown, who scores on the court is more important. I can even recall Parker being the leading scorer in all 4 NBA Finals games!

That's fair, but that team would have lost in 5 without Duncan, can you really say the same without Parker?

Tim Duncan, 29-63 in the NBA Finals, Parker 40-74 in the Finals. Duncan is great for defending and rebounding, but on a consistent basis, don't you think Parker was more consistent than Duncan against Cleveland?

More consistent? Maybe. More valuable? No. Again, take Duncan out of the game and the Spurs are extremely vulnerable. the offense and defense take a huge hit. Suddenly, Bowen can't play LBJ as close because no one is at the rim. the best offensive rebounding team in the league is able to get more possesions. Just changes everything. Take Parker out and you take a hit on the offensive end, but the Spurs would still be the favorite. Parker had a great finals and didn't "steal" the award or anything, but ppg is just one stat and Duncan is still the MVP of that team.
