Born on December 16, 1900 in Chicago, Illinois, Tony Kaufmann (Anthony Charles Kaufmann) played for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Giants over the course of his 12 year career. Kaufmann broke into the bigs on September 23, 1921 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 4.06 ERA in 153 innings pitched in 1922, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Tony Kaufmann's best season was 1923, when he posted a 3.10 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 72 batters.
