Tommy Leach (Thomas William Leach) was born on November 4, 1877 in French Creek, New York. He made his Major League debut on September 28, 1898 for the Louisville Colonels. In 1899, his rookie year, he hit .288 with 5 home runs and 57 RBI. Leach played for the Louisville Colonels, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 19 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Tommy Leach's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1909, when he stole 27 bases. However, others believe that it was 1907, when he stole 43 bases and hit for a .303 average.
