Tommy Holmes (Thomas Francis Holmes) was born on March 29, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York. Died: April 14, 2008 Boca Raton, Florida. He made his Major League debut on April 14, 1942 for the Boston Braves. In 1942, his rookie year, he hit .278 with 4 home runs and 41 RBI. Holmes played for the Boston Braves and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that Tommy Holmes's best season was 1945, when he slugged 28 home runs, hit for a .352 average and knocked in 117 runs.
