Tommy Colella (Thomas A. Colella) was born on July 3, 1918 in Albion, New York. After going to high school at Albion (NY), Colella attended Canisius College. Colella made his professional debut in the NFL in 1942 with the Detroit Lions. He played in the NFL for 4 years, playing for the Cleveland Rams and Detroit Lions over the course of his 4 year NFL career.Colella also played in the AAFC for 4 years, playing for the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills over the course of his 4 year AAFC career.

Most people believe that 1944 was Tommy Colella's best year, as he picked off 4 passes.
