Born on December 28, 1906 in Gordonsville, Tennessee, Tommy Bridges (Thomas Jefferson Davis Bridges) played for the Detroit Tigers for his entire 16 year career. Bridges broke into the bigs on August 13, 1930 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 4.99 ERA in 173 innings pitched in 1931, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Tommy Bridges's best season was 1936, when he posted a 3.60 ERA, won 23 games and struck out 175 batters.
