Tommie Frazier
[edit] BiographyTommie Frazier is considered one of the greatest college football players, and certainly one of the best at the University of Nebraska, of all time. Until Frazier arrived at Nebraska in 1992, legendary Cornhusker coach Tom Osborne had never won a National Championship, but the quarterback soon changed all that, leading the Huskers to three straight national championship games, winning two (1994 and 1995) and coming within a field goal of a third (1993). In his junior season, he missed seven games due to a blood clot in his leg that would later cost him an NFL career, but he returned in time to lead his team past Miami (FL) in the 1994 Orange Bowl to seal the team's first ever national title. The next year, Frazier's Huskers scored 62 points on Florida in the Orange Bowl that year. He is responsible for arguably the most memorable play in the game as well, a 75-yard touchdown run that put the nail in the Gators' coffin. The run was named the College Football Play of the Year at that year's ESPY Awards. The 1995 team is considered by many to be the greatest team of all-time, with Frazier joining forces with running backs Lawrence Phillips and Ahman Green. After his graduation from Nebraska, Frazier became a grad assistant at Baylor. He is now the head football coach at NAIA Doane College. [edit] Nebraska Records Set
