Tom Wham (Thomas Arthur Wham) was born on November 22, 1924 in Greenville, South Carolina. After going to high school at Clinton (SC), Wham attended Furman University. Wham made his professional debut in the NFL in 1949 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played for the Chicago Cardinals for his entire 3 year career.

Most people believe that 1949 was Tom Wham's best year, as he ran back an interception for a touchdown and recovered 4 opponents fumbles.
