Tom Welter (Thomas Lawrence Welter) was born on February 24, 1964 in Yankton, South Dakota. After going to high school at Yankton (SD), Welter attended the University of Nebraska. Welter made his professional debut in the NFL in 1987 with the St. Louis Cardinals. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals for his entire 1 year career.
