Tom Veryzer (Thomas Martin Veryzer) was born on February 11, 1953 in Port Jefferson, New York. He made his Major League debut on August 14, 1973 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1975, his rookie year, he hit .252 with 5 home runs and 48 RBI. Veryzer played for the Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians, New York Mets and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 12 year career.
