Tom Umphlett

Tom Umphlett (Thomas Mullen Umphlett) was born on May 12, 1930 in Scotland Neck, North Carolina. He made his Major League debut on April 16, 1953 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1953, his rookie year, he hit .283 with 3 home runs and 59 RBI. Umphlett played for the Boston Red Sox and Washington Senators over the course of his 3 year career.
