Tom Tuinei (Tumua Tuinei) was born on February 21, 1958 in Oceanside, California. After going to high school at Waianae (HI), Tuinei attended the University of Hawaii. Tuinei made his professional debut in the NFL in 1980 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions for his entire 1 year career.
