Tom Smith (Thomas Eric Smith) was born on October 4, 1949 in Waterloo, Iowa. After going to high school at East (Waterloo, IA), Smith attended the University of Iowa and the University of Miami. Smith made his professional debut in the NFL in 1973 with the Miami Dolphins. He played for the Miami Dolphins for his entire 1 year career.
