Tom Saffell

Tom Saffell (Thomas Judson Saffell) was born on July 26, 1921 in Etowah, Tennessee. He made his Major League debut on July 2, 1949 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1949, his rookie year, he hit .322 with 2 home runs and 25 RBI. Saffell played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Kansas City Athletics over the course of his 4 year career.
Most people believe that Tom Saffell's best season was 1949, when he hit for a .322 average.
