Tom Downey (Thomas Edward Downey) was born on January 1, 1884 in Lewiston, Maine. He made his Major League debut on May 7, 1909 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1909, his rookie year, he hit .231 with 1 home run and 32 RBI. Downey played for the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and Buffalo Blues over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that Tom Downey's best season was 1914, when he stole 35 bases.
