Tom Blanchard (Thomas Richard Blanchard) was born on May 28, 1948 in Grants Pass, Oregon. After going to high school at Grants Pass (OR), Blanchard attended the University of Oregon. Blanchard made his professional debut in the NFL in 1971 with the New York Giants. He played for the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Giants over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that 1977 was Tom Blanchard's best year, as he had a 42.4 yard punt average.
