There have been some big moves, and news today in the NFL.  Involving a few big names, here they are along with a paragraph or two telling what I think about the move.

  • David Garrard named Jacksonville starter - It wouldn't be such a big deal if Head Coach Jack Del Rio hadn't named QB Byron Leftwich the starter just a few short weeks ago.  I think this is a good decision, but it should have been made earlier, it was wrong of Del Rio to name Garrard the starter after he already named Leftwich the starter.  If I was Leftwich, I would be pissed at Del Rio.  I know how it feels, last year I was told by my JV Baseball coach that I was going to be the starting first baseman for the game coming up in a few days.  But, the next day at practice he moved one of the third baseman to first, and he ended up being named the starter just minutes before the game started.  I was pissed.  It may not be Football, but it is the same situation, and I feel for Leftwich.  On the other hand, I believe that it is time for a change in Jacksonville.  Leftwich had his time to shine, but couldn't stay healthy, it is time for the Jags to move on.  Leftwich will most likely be released or traded.
  • Michael Strahan to returns to Giants - He has reportedly ended his holdout with the New York Giants, and will return to the field.  Strahan was pondering retirement, if the Giants weren't fair to him, but I guess he was just too antsy, and missed football.  I don't have much to say about this topic, other than it was a good choice for Strahan, and that now JaMarcus Russell just needs to sign with Oakland.
  • Houston releases WR Keenan McCardell, QB Jared Zabransky, and RB Darius Walker - The Texans decided to release once-star WR Keenan McCardell (I had no idea he was even with Houston), along with Rookies Jared Zabransky, and Darius Walker.  QB Zabransky will most likely be remembered for "The Statue of Liberty" play in last year's Fiesta Bowl while playing for the Boise State Broncos, against the Oklahoma Sooners.  They also released Notre Dame RB Darius Walker, who was undrafted at this years draft.

BREAKING NEWS

  • Rodney Harrison to be suspended for 4 games - Patriots Safety Rodney Harrison will be suspended for 4 games this season, for obtaining HGH.  I don't have to much details on that, because it just came in, but you can visit ESPN.com to find out more.

Will Strahan now play for the Giants, or will there be a trade announced this week?

Strahan will play for the Giants. To be honest most Giants fans did not have a great deal of interest in Strahans return. People were ready to move on and give Justin Tuck a shot. I am a Giants fan and I am happy to have Strahan back, but I do hope we rotate him out more often to get Tuck more playing time.
