To the entire Armchair Community (yes, Red Sox fans and Jamel included)
In about three hours I will be on my annual holiday vacation, returning to work and life on January 2nd. Over the next eleven days I will be drinking a few gallons of coquito (Puerto Rican eggnog, made with coconut and rum. If you want a recipe copy, send a message to my board). I'll gain about five pounds just by scoffing down sugar cookies and mint M&M's.
I'll be playing Santa Claus to my five year old. (Oh, shit, sorry Ben, I thought you knew?)
I'll be playing a little golf, going to the movies, the zoo, celebrating a birthday, and so on. What I won't be doing much of is being on-line...no work, no computer.
I may spend some time on my manuscript, its been two and half years, eventually I'll get it done. Maybe I can turn in a half done piece of crap, anyone know Kenrick's publisher?
Maybe if Santa brings me a new laptop or some kick-ass video game I'll be around more. I'm so sure I won't be around much I'm going to set my fantasy basketball lineup all the way out til January third and hope like hell no one gets hurt.
So, to all of you, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Kwanzaa, or whatever it is you celebrate. Even if you're Jehovahs Witness and celebrate yourself, have a good time.
And Happy New Year.
What do I want for the New Year? I want the Patriots to lose. I want Curt Schilling to be busted for steriods. I want Jim Rice in the Hall of Fame. I want the Hollywood writers strike to end so I can look forward to a new season of "24". I want to lose 30 pounds. I want Mark Teixeira to win the NL MVP award and price himself out of everybody's budget except the Yankees.
But mostly, I want everyone here to be safe, happy, and sober. Not necessarily at the same time, mind you.
See ya!!
