Time for my weak picks for Week 4

by Boski93

As September ends we are nearing completion of the first quarter of the 2007 season. But we are just at the beginning of me trying to look like I know something but only knowing that I know nothing.

Week #4 A week that does not provide a ton of must see match-ups

Baltimore (2-1) at Cleveland (1-2) (+4) This is not going to be a pretty game. You might be better off playing this on Madden, since watching this game may be like watching football on the Atari 2600. The Ravens repulsed a Kurt Warner (really Kurt Warner, you don’t day) late charge. Now if the Browns could exploit the Raven DB’s like Arizona did then they have a shot, but there are two items could prevent it. First is the health of Winslow, whose shoulder is a bit tender. The second Derek Anderson is still the QB. The Browns will have no other  option but, since the Ravens will shut down any running lane. They may even be on the Browns bench preventing Lewis from even getting Gatorade. The Ravens have not been as dominate as they were last season, but still stand 2-1. But not having a health Rolle and McNair’s troublesome groin to cause one to take pause. Teams are abusing Corey Ivy and can you seriously tell me that Kyle Boller can pilot this team successfully for an extended period of time? I am sorry he is what the ancient Greeks call, bad. Yes, he can win a game here and there, but he will throw one two many ill-advised off the back foot throws that will kill them. So in summation, Baltimore wins in a squeaker. Baltimore 23 – 19

Green Bay (3-0) at Minnesota (1-2) (+2) The Packers come in to this game on an eight game winning streak. They have been the surprise of the NFC so far. They have been doing it with defense and Brett Farve chucking it. So far they have been able to get by without a running game, which won’t be an issue this week. If the Pack could run they would not be able to versus the Vikes. So they will throw and throw, which will be a blessing as we can be done with, “Brett Farve Record Watch”. The Vikings will try to scrap up some offense. The Tarvaris Jackson Experince is going as well as Grease 2. This weekend he will be sitting, due to injury. The series since 2001 is at 7-6 in favor of Green Bay and very few times the favorites have covered, but Sunday the Pack will cover. Green Bay 28 – 20

Chicago (1-2) at Detroit (2-1) (+2.5) The Rex Grossman reign of terror has come to an end, but Brian Griese? Well it can’t be any worse, can it? Speaking of worse how about that performance by the Lions defense, whose performance was the only thing uglier than the Eagle throwbacks? The Bears D is banged up, so it is paramount they make plays in the passing game early and then play keep away late. But you know what? I am throwing caution to the wind and I will pick the Lions will pull off a mild upset. Lions 27 – 20

Houston (2-1) at Atlanta (0-3) (+3) Hey didn’t you use to work here? Matt Schaub returns to the team that traded him before Ron Mexico got himself into a little bit of trouble. The Texans are a road favorite, wow who would have thunk it. The Falcons are down and pretty much out for 2007, but the Texans are very banged up and Birds pull off what will be very rare, a win. Falcons 26 – 20

Tampa Bay (2-1) at Carolina (2-1) (-3) An important NFC South get together. The Panthers will try and see if they can put together three weeks of winning football. Can they do it the Human Sack Machine David Carr? Since it looks like Delhomme arm is still hurting. The Bucs find themselves tied for first, as they revert back to their salad days. Good defense and an offense that does not turn the ball over. This should be a game the Panthers win, which really means another home loss. Tampa Bay 24 – 20

St. Louis (0-3) at Dallas (3-0) (-13) The Greatest Shame on Turf comes to Irving to face the Cowboys who put 30+ pts in each of their games. Bulger looks to add to his broken/cracked rib collection. The Rams will need Steven Jackson to carry the ball at least 35 times for them to have a chance. For them to win make it 45 and he would also have to get a couple of sacks and return a couple of punts. Holt would be a factor only if Bulger could have more than 3 second to throw the ball. Cowboys sheer the Sheep. Dallas 36 – 13

Oakland (1-2) at Miami (0-3) (-4) Since the ’72 Dolphins went undefeated the ’07 Fins may want to see if they can achieve perfection themselves and go totally defeated. But it takes talent to lose every game and Miami is short in the talent department. As for the Raiders, even at (1-2) they are playing way better than the 2006 version. This week they go into this tilt with a new QB. One who has an axe to grind with his former employer. The Raiders make the East Coast trip and play the early game which does not usually bode well with for West Coast teams, the Silver and Black cover but walk away with another close loss.  Miami 26 - 23

New York Jets (1-2) at Buffalo (0-3) (+3.5) This maybe one of the weekends that the Bills can get a win, they face a Jet team that is having issues on the O-Line (So Kendall really had to go?), but the Bills are going to start rookie Trent Edwards and the defense is being whittled down like the American Buffalo. Does anyone know where Lee Evans has gone? The Jets get back to even but still is a great deal away from being a playoff team. New York Jets 27 – 16

Seattle (2-1) at San Francisco (2-1) (+2) A great litmus test for both teams. The Seahawks come into this tilt with an addition who presence could have a big effect. That is the cast Alexander’s left hand. The Seahawks will have to deal with a Niners team that has struggled on offense so far. But this week, they will try to hammer the Seahawk defense with Frank “An Inconvenient Truth” Gore. Frank Gore will be delivery plenty of Global Warming stiff arms. The Niners need to open up the offense, at least enough to put team in that 7 – 8 in the box bind. Last week the Steelers practically kept nine men in the box. Niners take advantage of home field and get another big NFC West win. San Francisco 27 – 20

Kansas City (1-2) at San Diego (1-2) (-11.5) Things are not up to date in Kansas City. Especially when the offense you are running looks like its from the 40’s. They have shown improvement, but this will be a long, long year. For the Chargers, lose then please feel free to hit the panic button. San Diego 33 – 17

Pittsburgh (3-0) at Arizona (1-2) (+6) The students meet. . . the other student. So let me get this straight. Arizona new coaches face their old team, while the new coach of their old team comes to beat the guys who left do this job somewhere else with those people who are doing that things with those other guys. Wait I am getting confused, which is not surprising.  The Steelers take their show on the road, could this be a field trip to check out the digs before returning in February? Hmmmm. They first have to get past the pesky Redbirds who have shown improvement almost every department, expect one. Now it is not fair to condemn Leinart for one game, but being pulled Sunday because they felt Warner was better to lead the hurry-up has to raise a red flag. The Redbirds make this a nail biter for Pittsburgh till late. Pittsburgh 30 – 24

Denver (2-1) at Indianapolis (3-0) (-9.5) This looked to be the game of the week, but it won’t. I love the Broncos, but objectively I have to see the handwriting on the wall. The Broncos are in over their heads this weekend. I hope I am proven wrong and Shanahan proves why he is among the elite coaches. But they are walking into a blue and white buzz saw. A team that is probably a little angry, since it seems the Pats and Steelers are getting a lot of ink. If the Colts don’t turnover the ball they walk. Indianapolis 38 – 20

Sunday Night

Philadelphia (1-2) at New York Giants (1-2) (+3) I smell desperation in the air, and no it’s the smell of the swamp. Both of these teams need this game. A game , that for the winner will need if they are to have any hope to staying near Dallas, as well as staying in playoff contention. The Giants are a mess right now, and that usually means they win. The Eagles however will prevent this since they resemble a fully functioning team. Detroit’s D is not very good, but the Giants are not much better. So look for the Eagles to beat on the G-men. Philadelphia 35 – 23

Monday Night

New England (3-0) at Cincinnati (1-2) (+7) The Bengal D will show up tonight. It will hold the Pats to 35 points. Things are just not working out like Marvin Lewis was hoping for. A bad Cinny's D faces a read hot New England offense that has scored 38 points each week. Bengal best hope is Moss arrested for arson at half, for torching Deltha O’Neal. Also the Pats D would need to be tranquilized. It should be a fun game for three quarters till the Pats take the over. New England 35 - 27

Sorry, not this week with the matchup. I do have to warn you that being a Bronco fan, it is tough to show the Chiefs love.

Chiefs pound the Chargers. Surprise of the year? Are you ready to give my Chiefs some love? I predicted Bowe's big game. Although I didn't think it would be that big!

Kudos to you sir and the Chiefs, as I mentioned above and for some reason it did not put me as the one posting, it is tough for me to give the Chiefs love being a Bronocs fan, but they did buggy whip the Bolts.

Hey don't I get any kind of prize for picking the actual score to the Broncos Colts game? I should get something for it, other than the hollow feeling of devistation I have for watching the Colts Randall "Tex" Cobb my Broncos again.
