It's true -- and won't even be close. University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow will be named your 2007 Heisman Trophy Winner.
So says StiffArmTrophy.com, and website which scours the web and newspapers for disclosed ballots of actual voters, and then projects the results with tremendous results. From their site:
- We count actual votes. We count only the picks from people who claim to be actual voters. (The organization doesn't release a list of voters, so we can't verify.)
- We make two assumptions. 1) That the voter turnout in each region will be equal, and 2) that the undisclosed votes in each region will mirror the publicly disclosed votes,
- Based on those assumptions, we total up the votes in each region and then extrapolate the totals.
Over the past five years, they've correctly predicted every single Heisman winner, an astounding feat considering that Matt Leinart barely topped Adrian Peterson in 2004, and a year earlier, Oklahoma QB Jason White bested Larry Fitzgerald by a mere 2.9% of the vote.
Indeed, the prediction business is tough: Over the past five years, four of the five winners failed to receive a majority of the votes available -- in 2005, Reggie Bush won with 48%; in '03, Leinart took home the hardware with a mere 26%; White won in '02 with 33.5%; and in 2001, Carson Palmer won with just under 28%.
This year, StiffArmTrophy has Tebow winning the trophy -- with an estimated 73.8% of voters voting for Tebow. With Tebow's Heisman chances at 90.9% and climbing on Tradesports.com, it's very clear:
Tim Tebow will win the Heisman.
