Born on January 24, 1953 in East Chicago, Indiana, Tim Stoddard (Timothy Paul Stoddard) played for the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 13 year career. Stoddard broke into the bigs on September 7, 1975 with the Chicago White Sox, and put up a 1.71 ERA in 58 innings pitched in 1979, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Tim Stoddard's best season was 1980, when he posted a 2.51 ERA, notched 26 saves and struck out 64 batters.
