Tillie Voss (Walter Clarence Voss) was born on March 28, 1897 in Detroit, Michigan. After going to high school at Georgetown Prep (Washington, DC) and Univ. of Detroit Prep (Detroit, MI), Voss attended the University of Detroit Mercy. Voss made his professional debut in the APFA in 1921 with the Detroit Tigers. He played in the APFA for 1 year, playing for the Detroit Tigers the entire time. Voss also played in the NFL for 8 years, playing for the Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Dayton Triangles, Detroit Panthers, Green Bay Packers, Rock Island Independents and Toledo Maroons over the course of his 8 year NFL career.
Most people believe that 1921 was Tillie Voss's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
