Tigre Promotion Turns To Tragedy

I was going to talk about the celebration of a club that had to wait 27 years to come back to first division and how they did it in a gallant way. But there is truly nothing in my heart that gives me that inspiration.
I saw the video and I truly wanted to cry. I am not Argentine, nor do I claim to be one. But I have to be honest with you, I have a link to that wonderful country. When I arrived there it opened its arms wide and took me in like one of theirs. For that I will be eternally grateful. If it weren´t for that country I would not have the two greatest loves of my life- my wife and daughter.
To see the scenes that occured at the end of the Nueva Chicago-Tigre match were just very hard to take in as these weren´t ust a bunch of barbarians beating the living shit out of the other barbarians as well as some innocent bystanders that were caught in the crossfire.
I have always been in favor of having passionate fans. Nothing gives a game more drama and flavor than fans chanting and jumping up and down, literally willing their team to score that winnig goal. But this is ridiculous.
Where were the police? Where were the authorities? Why did this happen? It´s one thing that they meet them outsie and police forces are not set up there. But to see these fans run across the pitch, tear down the barbed-wire fence and attack the Tigre fans unopposed was just- God I dont have a word stronger than asenine. I guess this is where the word ¨fuckin´¨ would fit in properly. I mean to see these Tigre fans run as if they were being chased by an invading Army.
The police were just pathetic. They came in late and unloaded rubber bullets and tear gas at anyone who was in their way. Everyone from fans to women and children in cars as well as other making the commute who had nothing to do with this incident at all.
Even though it is a passion of millions in that country, it shows the other side than that of the Messis and Riquelmes of the world. It shows the reality of the state of Argentine football. If Julio Grondona and his cronies as well as the government entities get their act together you will actually see what could have happened to English football a few years back.
They need to get their act together as someone´s son, someone´s friend, someone´s brother, possibly father, or husband died as a result of this madness.
