The Tigers were able to take advantage of 2 Astros errors for 3 runs in the 7th. Up until that point, the game overall was a great pitching duel between The Rocket Roger Clemens and The Gum Man Nate Robertson.
Clemens (0-2) allowed 3 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), struck out 3 and walked 2 in 6.1 innings. Robertson (8-3) allowed 6 hits, 0 runs, struck out 4 and walked 3 in 7.0 innings.
In the 7th, Craig Monroe doubled to deep left, Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Guillen scored. Monroe took third on Adam Everett's throwing error. 2 batters later, Brandon Inge was safe at 1st on Morgan Ensberg's fielding error, scoring Monroe.
Alex Gomez provided another spark in the 8th with his first HR of the year. Tigers win 4-0.
Elsewhere in the AL Central, The White Sox keep pace by winning thier 50th of the year.
In this one, the Sox had 15 hits, almost everyone in the lineup had at least 1 hit.
Jim Thome had 2 RBI's, Scott Podsednik and A.J. Pierzynski had an RBI.
White Sox beat the Pirates 4-2, Bobby Jenks earned his 23rd save.
