Tiger's Future Questioned

Tiger Woods has until 5 p.m. Friday to commit to playing in Jack Nicklaus' Memorial Tournament next week. His last event played was the Masters, meaning he hasn't played in six weeks. If Tiger fails to playin the Memorial, he will not have played tournament golf before the U.S. Open, constituting the longest layoff of his career. While Tiger's expected to play in the Open, nothing is guaranteed as he continues to mourn the death of his father.

He'll play the U.S. Open. He cares about the majors, which is why never plays the week before or after them. He's also respectful of the great courses, which Winged Foot is.

Just because he is not playing tournaments doesn't mean he isn't working on his game and practicing. Tiger has enough money that the only thing important to him is major titles. You don't need live competition to prepare in golf, the way you do baseball or basketball, especially if you are Tiger Woods. It's not as though he needs to practice with the pressure on him, he already knows how to handle that.

Tiger Woods will come back to play the US Open, no doubt. And he'll come back with a vengeance with the memory of his father to drive him.
