So after a long day of work, I was happy that I could spend the evening relaxing and watching the Thrashers. Little did I know that it wouldn't be that much fun, as the Devils beat them 3-0 and Marty Brodeur gets to add another shut out to his resume.
The first period was pretty uneventful for both teams. When it came to the second period, things became awful. The Thrashers played with no energy. They gave the Devils a 5 on 3 opportunity, which made the score 2-0.
At that point, I was really doubtful that the Thrashers could pull out a victory. Surely they would at least get on the board. Kovalchuk has scored 11 of his 16 goals in the third. Kovy ended the night scoreless and Hossa's six game, multiple point streak came to an end. For whatever reason, Hedberg was pulled from the net with about two minutes to go which gave the Devils another goal.
Tonight was a bad night for the Thrashers. Hopefully they will regroup and be competitive for their Saturday game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. But what was the reason they lost today?
It can't be because they celebrated Thanksgiving to any significance. Only two players on their roster are from the United States. I don't think that Jim Slater threw a big party.
I'll make this excuse for them...they waited line at Best Buy for a Wii. That has to be it.
