The NHL named Joe Thornton of the San Jose Sharks the winner of the Hart Trophy awarded to the NHL's Most Valuable Player. Thorton led all players with 125 points. Thorton scored 92 points in 58 games after being traded from the Boston Bruins to the Shark in late November. Other Hart finalists included Jaromir Jagr of the New York Rangers and and Calgary Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff.

What did the Bruins get back? I remember Sturm, Primeau, anyone (or draft picks) else?

It pains me to say this, but I though Jagr was the best player in the NHL this year. He should have won the Hart.

Thornton was better than Jagr. I hate to use "what-ifs" but without Thornton I don't think the Sharks even make the playoffs. He made Cheechoo an elite player. They had questions in goaltending all year, Jagr had one of the best goalies in the league behind him. That was one of the worst trades imaginable. They got Sturm, Primeau, and Brad Stuart, right? Still awful. No picks, no prospects, nothing good. They got 3 B-C players for the best player in the league. Horrible, awful, horrendous trade.
