Tom O'Brien (Thomas J. O'Brien) was born on February 20, 1873 in Verona, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on May 10, 1897 for the Baltimore Orioles. In 1897, his rookie year, he hit .252 with 0 home runs and 32 RBI. O'Brien played for the Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Giants over the course of his 4 year career.

Most people believe that Tom O'Brien's best season was 1899, when he hit for a .297 average and knocked in 77 runs.
