...the New York Mets, with one of baseball's highest payrolls and deepest pockets, blessed with a team of a good blend of experienced veterans (Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado, and Paul DeLuca) and exciting young talent (Jose Reyes, Wright, and Lastings Milledge) and decent pitching somehow pissed away a 7 game lead with scarcely over two weeks to play and missed the post season altogether.
It is such a disgusting debacle that it makes me question not only my future as a Met's fan (when I am out on the west coast now) but as a baseball fan.
Maybe it is cosmic payback for the miracles of the 1969, 1973, and (to some extent) the 1986 seasons.
Experiencing these Mets flop the way they have is like watching Steve Jobs rolling out a transistor radio for the 2007 holiday season.
