I hope every ArmchairGM Alum had a Merry Christmas yesterday and enjoyed it to it's fullest. It's damn near the end of a roller-coaster sports year and thus it's time to hand out the awards I deem necessary and leave the judging to my Armchair peers. So withour further adu, Here goes:
Best Games of the Year:
1. Boise State vs. Oklahoma - Fiesta Bowl
2. Colts/Pats - AFC Championship -
3. Roger Federer/Rafael Nadal - Wimbledon Final
Teams of the Year:
Biggest Chokejob of the Year:
(Probably ever)
1. New York Mets blowing a 7-game lead with 17 games left.
Most Outstanding Male Players/Athletes:
1. Tom Brady {His stats make you think he's playing Madden 08 on Rookie Level}
2. LeBron James {No other current player could have led that supporting cast that he had to the Finals}
3. Tiger Woods {Need I Say More}
4. Roger Federer {Need I Say More}
Comeback Player of the Year:
1. Randy Moss
Biggest Upsets of the Year:
1. Appalachian State over Michigan
3. #8 Golden State Warriors over #1 Dallas Mavericks in the first round.
Players on the Verge:
1. Brandon Roy {Wait till Greg Oden returns: This will be a dynamic duo}
2. Brandon Marshall {Broncos WR}
3. Anthony Gonzalez {He'll thrive with the Colts}
4. Andrew Bynum {He's starting to thrive in Phil Jackson's offense}
5. Jacoby Ellsbury {Red Sox CF; this kid has IT written all over him}
6. Rajon Rondo {Will benefit from playing with the Big 3 and become a star himself}
7. Mario Williams {Snubbed from the Pro Bowl, yet he will be a star in the league for a long time}
Jackasses of the Year:
1. Rory Sabbatini: After so many pathetic attempts to get inside the head of Tiger Woods, he skips the final round of the Target World Challenge after going into it dead last. He should have given back his prize money.}
2. The Entire New York Knicks organization. {except for all of the young players drafted in the past few years, I feel sorry for those players.}
