The bad get worse.
The Miami Dolphins can’t seem to catch a break.
Running back Ronnie Brown and and safety Renaldo Hill both tore their ACL’s, effectively ending their season.
Miami, a living, breathing worse case scenario, now must face the rest of the season without their best player and their lone starting safety.
”These are times where you’re tested,” coach Cam Cameron said. “You take it day to day. You take it one game at a time. You try to get better. Life is a test.”
What more can be said really?
This team and this story gets more interesting as the weeks roll by and the questions keep gaining complexity.
Will the Dolphins really go winless?
If Ricky Williams is reinstated, do the Dolphins turn their back on the idea of releasing or trading him and have him start?
If awarded the first overall pick in the draft, do they take the sensational Darren McFadden, Arkansas’ famed running back and arguably the best player in the draft, in spite of the gaping holes on the offensive line, at QB, on special teams, and on a slow, old defense? Not to mention they’ll only be three years removed from drafting a running back 2nd overall.
Should they trade Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas, faces of the franchise for nearly a decade, and rebuild with youth? (yes!)
How will owner Wayne Huizenga respond if the Dolphins end up winless, or 1-15?
Does he let Cameron and GM Randy Mueller spearhead another draft and reassess the team after next season? Does he jump on the phone and try to convince Bill Cowher to come out of retirement, ending Cameron’s tenure after only a season, and changing the head coach for the 3rd time in 4 years?
I don’t have answers. Only questions.
Unfortunately at this stage, I don’t think the Dolphins do either.
