One of Bill James' pet peeves is the lack of concern about winning in professional baseball, specifically Minor League Baseball.
It's all about development, watching the bonus babies, crybabies, and sometimes Major Leaguers babies pitch, hit, and run. The Red Sox always have a few examples of nepotism in their system, and some like Marc Sullivan (son of the former GM) actually make it to the majors. 5 seasons of .186/.236/.258/.494 and you're wondering why he was called a 'defensive catcher'. But I digress.
Log in an help the Schaumburg Flyers build the roster, the lineups, and maybe even tailor the infield. Even the casual fan can Impact the Sport of Professional Baseball.
You could decide to play pitchers at all different positions, or maybe one player at all nine. You could have guys play out of position, and experiment with Markov Theory on the batting order, and do all kinds of neat baseball stuff. Winning? Fuggedaboutit.
