The Sound of Silence is Sweet

Not too long ago, the San Diego Chargers were "riding high" coming into the 2007 season, inwhich they felt it was "their" year. After the Week 1 victory over the Chicago Bears, the Chargers took their words to the media. Linebacker Shaun Phillips was one of the more noticeable players in the media. Calling Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson "soft" following the Chargers win.

Now.. sure, it could be true, and the "Bears are who we thought they were," but was it really necessary to say? Apparently.

Then, after the spygate scandal, Chargers running back LT commented on Belichick and the Patriots by saying "I think the Patriots actually live by the saying 'If you ain't cheatin' you ain't tryin'" Of course, LT must not have been around last year when Chargers linebacker Shawne Steriman.. sorry, Merriman was suspended for 4 games for using steroids. If LT didn't think that quote would be locker room material for the Pats, then he must live in a black hole. Of course, the Patriots crushed San Diego 38-14 that Sunday night.

Apparently the Patriots had bad character and bad taste last January, after Ellis Hobbs imitated Shawne Merriman's sack dance "Lights out." I guess it's okay for the Chargers to dish it out, but they can't receive it.

Now, after 3 consecutive losses to New England, Green Bay and Kansas City... there is no talking. Infact, the only sound coming out of San Diego is the sound of tears... and the chant of "Marty, Marty, Marty"

Way to go San Diego Chargers... your 1-3 record sure looks good on ya!!!

SILENCE IS SWEET.

This is just another example of Norv Turner running a team into the ground. First the Redskins, then the Raiders and now the Chargers. Although this car wreck has got to be at record pace, even for Norvell.

Your exactly right, the Chargers can't seem to shut up and play football. They are NOT the Colts or Patriots, teams that have been making the postseason for years. This team had a good year last year, grew overconfident and are paying for it. This goes hand in hand with the fact that Norv Turner is a cancer for a team's success.

Is it better to have gone 14-2 and blown your first playoff game at home (which, incidentally, the Chargers were a couple of bounces from winning), or to be a "perfect" 0-0 in the playoffs? I'd prefer a stellar regular season record and a roll of the dice in the postseason EVERY TIME. AJ Smith really screwed this situation up.

By the way, can we be far from a KG/Shawn Marion/Kobe-esque "get me out of here" from LT, who really deserves much better than this debacle.

I've always thought people were ridiculously hard on Marty regarding the playoffs. The Norv hire is just bizarre to me.

I don't know if there is any line of reasoning that explains how Norv Turner continues to find work as an NFL head coach.

Frankly, I wish he were back coaching the 'Skins. And take on the Eagles and cowboys too. He may be the worst NFL coach since Ray Handley and Rich Kotite.
