This is the first in a series of articles following home runs hit by Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard, who may one day be remembered as the greatest home run hitter of the post steriod era of baseball.
Howard hit his 50th and 51st home runs of his career (No. 26 and 27 for the 2006 MLB season) last night against Baltimore. The first home run of the night came in the fourth inning. This was a solo shot off of starter Kris Benson.
Howard's second blast of the evening, which was another solo shot, came in the eighth inning. This time, the pitcher was Sendy Rleal. Unfortunately, Howard two blasts did not help the Phils, for the final score was 12-5, Baltimore.
Ryan Howard now leads the Majors in home runs, and is third overall in RBI's. All of this is done by Howard while playing on a team that has packed it in for the season already. Perish the thought of what this guy could do on a good team.
