Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard won the 2006 All-Star Home Run Derby. Mr. Howard defeated New York Mets wonderboy David Wright in the final round of the competition. Other participants included Miguel Cabrera, David Ortiz, Jermaine Dye, Miguel Tejada, Lance Berkman, and Troy Glaus.
Ryan Howard, as it has been previously mentioned in these reports, will quickly becoming the greatest home run hitter of his generation. Being only 26, Mr. Howard may be just what baseball needs in this post Steroid Era.
Unfortunately, Ryan Howard plays for the Phillies, an organization that some would say is run by Mickey Mouse. However, I think, by saying this, a person is actually insulting Mickey Mouse. Case in point, former Phillies President and current part-owner of the club, Bill Giles did an interview with the Philly Inky yesterday. In it he states that Brett Myers is innocent of the domestic assault charges. He goes on and says that "Brett Myers was trying to help his wife." So guess what the lead story in the paper this morning: Ryan Howard winning the home run derby or Bill Giles gem of an interview?
