The Return of Williams
| 4
|
It has been nine weeks since Ricky Williams has played football for the Toronto Argonauts. As you will recall, he broke his arm in the July 22 game versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Williams has also sliced his heel and spent time in an oxygen-rich tank.
On Tuesday, Ricky was allowed to join the practice. There is even an outside chance that he will get to play on Saturday night at the Calgary Stampeders.
Since Ricky's injury, the Boatmen have undergone a change in the offensive packages. Gone is the system that he originally learned under Kent Austin, as Austin was fired in August. He will have to put into practice the new offense of general manager Adam Rita, who has put a fire back into the Argo offense.
He will also have to contend with John Avery for the starting job and possibly with Canadian Jeff Johnson for the back-up role.
