The Other Met Anderson

It was asked recently, why is Marlon Anderson a Met? So far he's proved to be a useful fourth outfielder and still decent at the plate. Either way, he's not the question today. We're talking today, on the other Anderson, Anderson Hernandez.
Anderson Hernandez is primarily a second basement. A position that for the most part, seems to now belong to Gotay, but can also be played be Easley (who in theory returns tommorow) and Marlon Anderson. He can if needed, sub in for Reyes, though Gotay can as well. His defensive skills get an A+. No questions there at all, he turns a pretty sweet double play, seems to read Reyes pretty well, has very good speed and range, and probably would have made that throw Gotay tossed by Delgado this afternoon.
But he can't hit a ball thrown by the average MLB pitcher. Sure he seems to be tearing up AAA guys, right now. He wasn't earlier this year. But he does that every summer. And he tears up the pitchers in the winter leagues down in latin america too. And suddenly its like 'wow, I think Anderson has finally picked it up, we should give him another chance.' He hasn't. If he comes to bat, if we're lucky it'll just be one out. He went something like 80 at bats before getting his first extra base hit.
If Gotay wasn't hitting, maybe I'd be more supportive of him, because again, great defense. but right now, we need the bats. The Mets defense has been decent, but the bats have been quiet. There's no reason for him to be with teh club, especially since if anything we probably need corner outfielders.
