The Next Process!

[1]  Since Joe Torre isn't managing the New York Yankees, many wonder "whose next?"

Don Mattingly is a possibility, and his experience with the Yankees makes since. "Don confirmed his interest and will travel to Tampa early next week to meet with Yankee ownership," Schulte said.

Mattingly could be successful as the manager, because he's learned from Torre. Nothings new, because Mattingly been around the Yankees. The media pressure and others wouldn't be an issue. It isn't guaranteed Mattingly will manage the Yankees, but its possible.

Finding a manager is important, and it will take time. "We're going to be interviewing maybe as many as five, six candidates, and we'll see how that goes," Hank Steinbrenner said. "The job, there's been no real decision on that yet. They're going to be real interviews, and probably starting next week."

It won't be short, because replacing Torre isn't easy. Hiring a manager with experience is important, because it won't be a lot of pressure.

It will be a while before the announcement. "I would assume it would be after that," Steinbrenner said. "After we do the interviews, we'll be talking about it before we make a final decision."

It’s a great idea, because it gives them time. Rushing causes mistakes, and that will hurt the Yankees.

The success Torre had will bring pressure on the next manager.

Torre's departure will hurt the Yankees, but moving on is the goal. "Joe handled it with class as expected," Hank Steinbrenner said. "The big thing that I want to make clear, and as everybody does the offer was genuine. It was not some kind of bluff, it was a genuine offer, and we were genuinely disappointed that he turned it down. That's the truth. It wasn't a ploy. It was a true offer." The offer wasn't good, and that's why Torre isn't with the Yankees.

Torre wasn't happy with the offer, and it wasn't surprising. The contract offer was "horrible," and Steinbrenner knew what will happen. It's sad, firing Torre would have been easier.

Torre will be remembered, and never forgotten. "Joe Torre exhibits class, dignity and a winning attitude, both on and off the field," the former Yankees captain said. "Those of us who coached or played under Joe know he is someone very, very special." He kept everyone happy, and never had complaints.

No Yankee manager will compare to Torre!
