The Monday Night Miracle
The term Monday Night Miracle has been adopted in reference to at least two sporting contests. One was a 1986 St Lous Blues playoff victory in the NHL and the other was a 2000 New York Jets victory in the NFL.
[edit] NHL
On May 12, 1986 playoff run the Calgary Flames were leading the St. Louis Blues three games to two heading into game six of the conference final. The Blues were playing at home but found themselves trailing 5-2 with 12 minutes remaining in the third period before rallying to win 6-5 in overtime on the late Doug Wickenheiser's goal. It is considered to be one of the most memorable [1] victories in Blues history.
[edit] NFL
In the NFL, The Monday Night Miracle most often refers to a Monday night game between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins played at The Meadowlands on October 23, 2000. The game is notable for having the second-largest fourth quarter comeback in NFL history and the largest comeback in Jets history. It was also voted the greatest game televised on ABC's Monday Night Football[2].
