And the Box office champion this weekend is...not I AM LEGEND but the Mitchell Report. The report has FINALLY been released and was supposed to validate America's hatred for Barry Bonds and what do they get...Arthritis cream and some tongue drops. Personally I think it was a huge letdown, like an ugly blind date
Is thats all you got? So is Barry one of those foam dinosaurs that grow when you add water, is that it. All the hype and speculation and the result, they got NOTHING on Barry. Its like arresting a drug kingpin and finding a small bag of weed only. Hell they couldn't even get Sosa and McGwire. They used the word alledgedly so much I thought that it was someones name. So does this change their minds about accepting that vandalizing that ball? Will Game of Shadows be flying off the shelves still? What about the indictment?
All the sh*ttalk directed towards Barry should be redirected. To whom you ask? Who should be the new Mr. Steroid Era, ((drumroll please)) none other than Roger Clemens. Cue the Miss America Music...."S is for how he Stooped the league, T is for the Trouble he should recieve, E is for the Extra innings, R is for Rooooger Clemens, O is for Okay you get the joke..."
Anyway so what now? Do we erase everything do we start giving up meaningless Cy Young awards to whoever finished second place. And how long before we hear from the players, lets call Roger let's see if his call gets dropped. And Selig has said we will punish "case by case" I smell unfair distribution of guilt.
As for the game itself, I dont think its tainted. We knew what was going on, we aren't that naive, are we? We knew something stunk in the MLB and we held our noses and enjoyed the game and now that we know we should continue to do so. We want no hitters from 40 year olds and 600 ft homers, have you seriously watched a game with no homers, quite boring.
What about the Hall of Fame? Do we let them in, of course. Steroids were out of the MLB's control, sad but true. If a homerun is interfered with by a fan isnt it still a homerun do they asterisk it in the box score because Joe Schmoe grabbed it. No. And my only hope is that people completely abandon the game of baseball, but for those that do theres always the NBA. After all, most NBA players believe in "Stop Snitching" and the only drugs they abuse is weed and alcohol. lol.
