The Mets Are Dead!

by Kenrick Thomas

Will they make the playoffs? It remains. Losing to the St. Louis Cardinals 3-0, isn't great. Tied with the National League East, it brings problems. The Phillies want it, and I look "stupid." Poor play brings issues for the Mets.

Many people believe it's over. The Phillies could win the east, and the Mets suffer. The biggest upset has happen. Being up 7 games, and losing it.

Pedro Martinez had 8 strike outs, but lost. The last 3 pitchers did worse then Pedro. He tried 100 percent, and that counts. The bullpen can learn from him.

Getting shut out, its crazy. Doesn't make sense. With a talented line-up, and playoff experience.

The bullpen ERA is over 6.00. You can't be successful with that stat. It's hurting this team, and media attention is coming. It can cause controversy, but it started already. Willie Randolph being on the hot seat. His job might be over, and it's not fair. His relationship with Omar Minaya isn't great, and the team is "dead." When relationships are bad, it doesn't work. The Mets need help.

What's the problem? Their bullpen was great, but issues came. Being over worked, and not have rest.

"It's late in the season, guys are tired, we're running on fumes," David Wright said. "It's not an excuse. We need to go out there and finish strong and dig down deep and really do some soul-searching because we're going to have to finish with a flurry." Tell your team that, they need it. Because it could be over. Wright's M.V.P. type season is great, but the Mets aren't winning.

It's the wrong time, slumping will hurt. Because it "killed" the Mets.

Of course it's the wrong time for a slump like this, but think of it this way: it's more exciting to see who wins the division when it's very close. Take a division like the AL West. It turned out to be very boring in the end since the Mariners "gave up" in the end, and the Angels took the division with ease. Same goes with the Mets. Personally, I'm rooting for the Phillies because I like teams that come from behind and win.

The Mets should be worried, but the thing is they're always on and off. Remember they were close to losing the division before the All-Star break, and then they ended up winning a lot more games. Now, it's a LOT more serious because the Mets are now TIED with the Phils for first place. It all comes down to the next few games.

The Mets took 3 of 4 from the Marlins last weekend, and they're facing the same starters. However, the Phillies could very easily sweep the Nationals this weekend. The way the Mets are playing, they can't really hope to do more than take 2 out of 3.

On a side note, everybody's complaining about the Mets playing with no heart. Please don't tell David Wright that. He made two unbelievable plays today, and had the only XBH for the Mets. He's playing like an MVP, even if his team is costing him the award.

The Met need be worried, because they let a 7 game lead go away.
