The Logo of the NFL and MLB

So I was listening to Mike and Mike in the Morning yesterday and they brought up an interesting subject. Which person or moment should be the logo of the NFL? How about the MLB? In the NBA, Jerry West is considered "The Logo". After much debate they settled on either Mike Ditka or Johnny Unitas. I agree more with Ditka. The guy has been in football forever and everyone in the country knows him. Not to mention, people treat him as a god in Chicago. Other suggestions included John Madden and Dick Butkus. Two great suggestions.

So I wanted to get everyone's opinion. Which person or moment do you think should be "the logo" for the NFL and MLB? Remember the logo doesn't nessacarily mean the greatest player. Factors include recognizability, what the person meant to the sport, and their involvment over time. I'm going to go with Ditka for the NFL, as for the MLB I'm having a very hard time coming up with an answer.

How about Mad Mack with his "Rozelle" headband?

Mike Vick holding a puppy?

Pacman Jones with a garbage bag full of money?

For baseball, I would say it should be Barry Bonds . . . just kidding.

Baseball's logo should be Ken Griffey Jr. in the middle of his sweet sweet swing.

For the NFL?

A generic player in a helmet is fine.

Barry Bonds is the last person that should be the baseball logo. He wants nothing to do with it and hates everyone in it. He took his stuff from the Hall Of Fame Museum of goodness sake!

I like the suggestion of Cal Ripken. What about when Ruth pointed to the outfield in the 1932 World Series (Called Shot)? I think that would make a great logo.

I like the Ditka call for the logo but how about Dick Butkus in his linebacker stance. He epitomizes everything that is great about hte NFL. Baseball, Ted Williams.

Butkus with his thumbs down! That would be awesome. Baseball: Hank Aaron shoving a bat up Barry Bond's coochie.

The silhouette of John Madden eating turduckden works for the NFL logo.

stuff it up under Brett Favre's junk to add a touch of realism. Or just pay Frank Caliendo to do it...

Not involved enough? By that logic, Gary Anderson should be the logo.

After perusing Brooks' stats a little closer, he's still one of the 5 best 3rd basemen ever but I no longer consider arguments as to #1... until A-Rod gets another decade at third, Michael Jack was the best third baseman ever.

This is ARod's last season as a third baseman. Where ever he goes after this year will be as a shortstop.

For the NFL I would say either Something of Vince Lombardi

Or the catch by Dwight Clarke

MLB I would go Barry Bonds just to piss people off. But in all seriousness I would go with Ted Williams
