The LaBeouf of the Week 11

As I prepare for the traditional Thanksgiving feast down here in Alayama, I would like to take a moment to say what I am thankful for this year.

I am thankful for Jon “Christ the” Kitna for not being able to conjure up enough of that divine power of his to stop himself from Shia LaBeoufing all over the turf at Ford field last week. Things looked like they were going in the right direction for Jesus’ 2 nd favorite QB, (with Kurt Warner’s robotic arm coming in first) as Mattias Kiwanuka broke his leg…on the 2 nd play of the game. However, all the divine power in the world could not stop the Giants pass rush from sacking Kitna 3 times and the rush D from holding Kevin Jones to a paltry 25 yards on the ground. I would give Kevin Jones an honorary LaBeouf for his 4 rush -4 yard performance against Arizona and his 11 rush 25 yard performance against the Giants, but no one thinks this guy is or will ever be a fantasy stud again…except for the owner who decided to trade 4 th and 6 th Round picks in a keeper league for him; but I digress. This week’s Shia LaBeouf award winner is definitely Jon Kitna and his 3 int’s. He put up very good yardage numbers (377) against very average Giants secondary, but only threw 1 touchdown and was lucky to get that one. He even had the Good Lord stricken the referees blind on a number of calls, 1 of which was a blatant intentional grounding call that was miraculously called an incomplete pass. But my Giants won, and I am thankful that Kitna decided to throw caution to the wind and eat that Saturday night spicy chicken burrito that gave him a nice little tingle as he was LaBeoufing on Sunday.

I am thankful for Marc Bulger, without whom (and maybe Drew Brees) I would have trouble writing this column every week. On the advice of myself and countless others, I started Bulger this week in a make or break game to get into the playoffs. In hindsight, Matt Hasselbeck against the once vaunted Bears secondary proved to be a much better play as Bulger could get nothing solid going against a 49 defense that is good against the pass and awful against the run. However, no facet of the former Greatest Show on Turf could get anything going, and Bulger spent more time on his back (6 sacks!!!) than Air Force Amy. So Marc, I thank you for this season and you, along with your offensive line, will almost certainly be the first inductees into the Shia LaBeouf Hall of Fame.

For this week’s pick, I am going to be thankful for Chester Taylor giving me back to back Shia LaBeouf’s against the Giants Defense. The Giants are 9 th against the rush and will be able to stack the line on every play as Tavaris Jackson or Brooks Bollinger will not be able to exploit the doggy doo soft Giants’ secondary. Minnesota has 1 road win and the Giants have played well against opponents with sub-.500 records. It will be a happy Thanksgiving weekend in Alayama, as Mrs. Taylor’s sweet potato pie will form a nice base for a festive Shia LaBeouf Sunday in the Meadowlands.

On a side note, nothing is worse or more frustrating that being a New York Knicks’ fan. Watching last night’s game against the Warriors was absolute torture. Guys were flat out REFUSING to get back on defense, and the team has all but quit on Isiah. A deafening chorus of “Fire Isiah” chants raining down from the 400 level of the Garden, yet it does not seem like it is enough to get his guy fired. I really wish I had his job. Take a look at this resume: the team goes 6-22 after he signs a multimillion dollar extension; he causes his employer millions of dollars in a sexual harassment lawsuit; he continually owns the leagues highest payroll; his players have stopped playing for him; he has lost 7 games in a row. Yet, still NOTHING from the front office? Seriously? And here in lies the problem, the chants should not be fire Isiah, they should be fire James Dolan, the real problem plaguing the once proud Knicks’ franchise.
