The problems keep coming for the Jets these days, as reported on nfl.com, Jonathan Vilma was placed on injured reserve Saturday, effectively ending his season and ending what was a week of speculation and controversy regarding the Jets' inside linebacker.
It started with the game last weekend against the Bengals, where Vilma was sitting for a key stretch in the game, coach Mangini reported after the game that it was due to injury, while Jonathan Vilma reported in his regular spot on WFAN in NY that it was a coaches decision entirely.
We find out later in the week that Vilma was hurt in the Bengal game, and although the Jets wouldn't report the severity of the injury or even which knee, was out for the game. Now the back forth finally ends as Vilma's season comes to an end. Rookie David Harris will start in his place. We end with Jonathan Vilma's own words as reported in the nfl.com article:
"I am disappointed that my season ended prematurely," Vilma said in a statement. "I was looking forward to playing the rest of the season and helping the team get back on track. I now look forward to supporting my teammates for the rest of the 2007 season and returning to the field with them in 2008."
See you Sunday night after I return from Giants Stadium.
