The Hill Street Drew’s

Remember the days when the label "can’t miss prodigy" & Drew Henson’s name used to co-exist? Guess what? He misfired. Yes, Drew Henson was released by the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, a day after coach Bill Parcells said the quarterback wouldn't be on the roster this season. Henson has built quite a resume after the glory days as a two-sport athlete…A resume that young people can look at and see the proper way on how not to fail, not just in baseball, but football as well. Some might want to argue that the system failed, not Drew. Oh right, two completely different systems failed him. That’s like saying Denny’s didn’t suit my needs, the hash browns were cold, my eggs were over easy instead of scrambled…All the while hoping to find better service down the street at IHOP. Why am I so hungry all of a sudden? Maybe since nobody can get my order right?

When we heard the name Drew Henson, we think of a pretty solid starting quarterback who led the Wolverines to a share of a Big Ten Title back in 2000. Come to think of it, this is really only the one real accomplishment that Drew has obtained in his athletic career, not counting high school. Let’s face it, if he wasn’t good in high school he sure as shit wouldn’t have landed in Ann Arbor. Drafted by the New York Yankees in the 3rd round of the 1998 amateur draft, Henson signed July 24, 1998. Okay, he got drafted by a Major League Baseball team…Doesn’t everybody get drafted? With over 100 rounds, (or whatever the number is) why wouldn’t he get drafted? Here’s some inside information…Tons of baseball scouts have decided to travel to Williamsport to begin scouting out the 6’8, 256-pound 13-year old…Freddy Adu of baseball.

While down on the farm in pinstripes DH only managed to appear in eight games. Now in these eight games he stepped to the plate a whole nine times…Managing a fabulous one, yes one hit, while striking out three times. Batting average was a nauseating .111. Wonder what the 6’8, 256-pound 13-year old was doing back then? He would’ve been between the ages of 9-10…Likely standing 6’0, and weighing 190 pounds…Yanks could’ve drafted him instead.

So struggling & floundering on the farm, doing his best Michael Jordan impersonation, (continued @ http://www.lastrowsports.com/weekly-boob.asp)
