The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Week 13 Edition

Week 13 of the NFL season isn't quite in the books just yet. But, after an exciting day of Football yesterday, I have put together a list of the good, the bad, and the ugly things from Week 13.

The Good:

  • Adrian Peterson- AP returned to after his knee injury against the Green Bay Packers two weeks ago. He not only played, but he topped 100 yards again, 116 to be precise, and he added 2 TD's, as well. Minnesota also picked up their 6th win of the season, as they are now at .500, after their 42-10 win over Detroit.
  • LaDainian Tomlinson- LT is BACK!!! As he rushed for 177 yards and 2 TD's against the KC Chiefs in SD's 24-10 win yesterday to improve to 7-5 this year.
  • Luke McCown- McCown did a fine job replacing the injured Jeff Garcia. In TB's 27-23 defeat of the New Orleans Saints yesterday, McCown threw for 313 Yards, and 2 TD's as he completed 29 of his 37 passing attempts.
  • Eli Manning- Eli was able to redeem himself from last week as he helped the NYG complete the comeback victory over Chicago 21-16 as he lead the GW drive in the 4th a 2-yard TD run by Reuben Droughns with under 2 minutes to go. Manning threw 2 INT's, but completed 16 of his 27 attempts for 195 Yards, and 1 TD.
  • JaMarcus Russell- Russell played in his first ever NFL game, going 4 for 7 for 56 yards. He didn't start, he just got a few snaps in at the end of the game, but that's not a bad start. There is a small chance that he could start a game before the season's finished.
  • St. Louis Rams- Gus Frerotte lead the Rams high-powered Offense to another win to move to 3-9, after defeating the poor little Falcons 28-16. Frerotte, Steven Jackson, and Torry Holt all had big days. Frerotte went 23 for 35, ofr 311 yards, and 3 TD's, plus 2 INT's. Steven Jackson ran for 96 yards adding a 50-yard TD run. Torry Holt caught 6 passes which went for 135 Yards, and a TD.
  • Kurt Warner/Edgerrin James- Warner lead his team to a 27-21 victory over the 7-5 Cleveland Browns by throwing for 169 Yards, and 2 TD's, as Edgerrin James finally broke 100 yards, which helped the Cards win their sixth game.
  • Peyton Manning- Manning redeemed himself against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Colts 28-25 win. That pretty much wraps up their Division title. Manning threw for nearly 300 yards, and 4 TD's while completing an amazing 20 of his 29 attempts.

The Bad:

  • The still winless Miami Dolphins get crushed by the 3-9 New York Jets 40-13. Miami's Rookie QB, John Beck, threw 3 INT's, and lost 3 fumbles to add on to this. NY didn't win this game, Miami lost the game.
  • San Francisco continues to struggle, losing their 9th game to the 5-7 Panthers by a score of 31-14. QB, Trent Dilfer, fills in for injured Alex Smith, and throws 4 INT (1 for a TD), and a fumble, which was recovered. Carolina's QB, Vinny Testaverde threw for 2 TD's as he helped Carolina with the 17-point win.

The Ugly:

  • The Redskins, who were playing with heavy hearts after the loss of Taylor, dominated the first half, but lost the game 17-16 to the 6-6 Buffalo Bills. Buffalo Kicker, Rian Lindell, was attempting a 51-yard potential GW FG with a few ticks left, when Washington HC, Joe Gibbs, tried to call back-to-back timeouts, but since that's against the rules, it resulted with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty. So, Lindell made the GW 36-yard FG. So, the 'Skins lost their biggest game of the season, thus far.
  • With McNabb out, and A.J. Feeley in, the Eagles looked doomed from the start, but Feeley kept the Eagles in the game until the end, when Feeley threw his 4th INT (3 were picked off by LB, Lofa Tatupu) in the red zone, which gave the W to Seattle 28-24. Philadelphia is now 5-7, and in desperate need of a win.
  • Well, we already know that the Pats are gonna kick the Ravens ass tonight. Do I have to explain???

Should have put the Browns on there for systematically attempting to destroy their playoff hopes by losing to the Cardinals.

I am not a McNabb hater. I think he might actually do OK if Andy Reid would run the ball more instead of throwing the ball 40+ times a game. Westbrook has carried the ball 30+ times just ONCE this season, and when he did carry it 32 times, they won!! That say's something, even if the win did come against the 0-12 Dolphins.

The Jets outplayed the Dolphins in ever facet of the game. I don't think it is fair or accurate to say the Jets did not win this game.

Does it really matter??? It's like me complaining about that one catch during the Bears game and if it hit the ground or not (I think actually it was a good catch)- it no longer matters-- so said-- but now that the Bears are out of the playoffs I have more time to concentrate on armchair

How could the Jets not "win this game" after putting 40 points up on the board?

What I mean was that if John Beck didn't turn the ball over 6 TIMES (all on his own), then the Dolphins may have actually had a chance to win. So, really the Jets may have played hard, but the Dolphins pretty much handed the game to them.
